Mercedes-Benz Transforms Bluetooth & Music/Media Interface in most 2012 models.,

Advancements in User Friendly Telematics.

In 2008 Mercedes-Benz decided that the all new C Class was going to pioneer a number of technological developments like, new blue tooth systems, media interface, dvd players on the command APS units and linguatronic voice commands, just but to name a few. In the same vein of developmental and effective marketing strategy, the new 2012 C-Class spearheads the new generation of electronics in a robust unprecedented manner. As in the past, these new developments will be introduced across all the upcoming Mercedes-Benz vehicles. Major development is the new generation NTG 4,5 TELEMATICS SYSTEM , symbolised by the units below.

2008 Outgoing command APS UNIT.

2012 In coming command APS UNIT. Superior user-friendliness with bigger 3-D display.

Linguatronic Voice Control System: French.

  • Another very good development is the introduction of the Linguatronic Voice Control System in French. Mercedes-Benz introduced the French version of the Linguatronic in 2011 E & S Class in direct response to the wishes of the French speaking customers. Now this system has been introduced in the 2012 C Class Sedan, C Class Coupe but not yet in the GLK. Customers can synchronize their voices to the system for better voice recognition. The system has been improved to issue very clear instructions in a very soothing voice. One of my French customers was so thrilled at the prospect of driving his ordered new C350W4M..
Bluetooth.
  • It is very refreshing and exciting to note that the idea of creating pass words when pairing the mobile phone to the car is now a thing of the past. Now the car will create the pass words and just asks you to confirm buy the push of a command unit. Good news to all of you out there who struggled with the cumbersome pass words.
  • Down loading contacts from the hand held to the car was a nightmare to a lot of customers and sales consultants alike, especially on the GLK & the C CLASS. Its good to note that this is now simplified. The car does it all by itself. Welcome development towards user friendliness.
  • Another thorn in the flesh of a lot of customers is which phone to buy that will be effective with the Mercedes-Benz Blue tooth. In a simplistic way, the I PHONE and the Blackberry (RIM) seem to be very good all round. Problems with the I Phone 4 are now a thing of the past. Also google your car B CLASS, C CLASS etc and add .........interactive owners' manual eg B Class   http://www4.mercedes-benz.com/manual-cars/ba/cars/245/en/noflash.html then click next and select communication then you will see a host of handhelds that are recommended for your car. Good luck!

Media Interface.
  • A USB flash drive is a data storage device that consists of flash memory with an integrated Universal Serial Bus (USB) interface like the ones shown below. This device is proving to be a big source of personalized music in the car as an easy, clean and excellent replacement of CDs. A small stick with 8,16 or 32 Gigabytes, can bring your whole itunes music library into the car. This can be connected and left hooked in the car unlike an Ipod which you hook up and hook off all the time resulting in the damage on your connection teeth. Good news! This has now been moved from the Glove Compartment to the Centre Console and no more cables, just plug the USB in the provided slot.

Secure Digital: SD Cards.

  • Secure digital is one of the most exciting developments as far as management of portable music is concerned. Just like the USB Stick, its ultra light, small and it comes with 2,4,8,16,32 Gigabytes etc. You can connect this to the computer and among other data, you can download music from your itunes Library. This will produce distinct clear music and coupled with the available Harman Kardon's 5.1 Dolby sound system, the customer will unleash a movie theater in the car. A lot of customers are not familiar with this because they had to buy a PCMCIA (Personal Computer Memory Card International Association) card reader to be able to use the SD cards. This is now a thing of the past, the 2012 cars now have a direct slot on the dash.
Media Interface Cables.

Media Cables connection has been redeployed from the Glove Compartment to the centre console. It is also good to note that the optional media interface includes a new cover art feature for all head units which gives a very nice high definition cover of what you are listening to. A cover flow feature (as seen on the iPod itself) is now integrated when ordered in conjunction with the COMAND Navigation System, but also note that Media Interface is now available without COMAND which was not the case in the past.

Music Register.
  • The developments come so quick in the Mercedes-Benz scope of things. Only a few months ago many Mercedes-Benz  cars were boasting up to 6 GB in-dash storage, and for the C Class, it was only 4 Gigs. But check out this, that has now been upped to 10 GB on 2012 C Class.
  • The demise of the once popular Compact Disc (CD) is now getting lost to the world of Digital Music. However on this system, you still need CDs from which you can down load the music.
